Before you buy

Who it's for, and who it isn't

It's for you if

  • You want to clean between your teeth without floss or a metal-wire brush
  • You find floss fiddly or hard to handle
  • You want a quick routine after meals, at the office or when travelling
  • The gaps between your teeth let a fine tip through

Skip it if

  • Your teeth are very tight: the tip will not fit, floss is better suited
  • You want a reusable tool: these are single-use picks
  • You want something to replace brushing: they complement it

In detail

Everything about this product

Clear resealable box filled with blue-bristled interdental picks

What you get

  • A clear resealable box of 150 or 200 picks (8.6 × 5.6 × 2 cm)
  • Blue bristles (150 or 200) or green (200)
  • 4.8 cm long, including 1.7 cm of bristled tip that widens towards the handle (supplier’s diagram)

How to use them

Slide the tip between two teeth without forcing and move it back and forth a few times. Rinse the pick between gaps and throw it away at the end of the session. If the tip will not go in, do not force it: the gap is too narrow and floss is the better tool.

And your toothpaste?

Frequently asked questions

Do they replace floss?

Where the tip fits, they clean between teeth like floss, with a simpler movement. Where it does not, keep using floss. Neither replaces brushing twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste.

Can they hurt my gums?

The bristles are soft and the core contains no metal. Slide them in without forcing or pressing on the gum. If your gums bleed or are sore, talk to your dentist.

Can they be reused?

They are designed for single use: rinse the pick between gaps during the session, then throw it away. At one a day, the box of 200 lasts more than six months.

What is the difference between blue and green?

Only the colour of the bristles, according to the listing. Green comes only in the box of 200; blue in 150 or 200.

Silicone or plastic?

The supplier describes the bristles as soft silicone; its technical sheet says “plastic”, which probably refers to the core and handle. We have no material certificate, so we say no more.
