Tooth gems, carefully
Adults only, on healthy teeth, never on a crown, a veneer or a brace. No etching acid at home. Wear stays temporary, 1 to 4 weeks depending on your habits. To remove it, never use a metal object: any residue is taken off at the dentist’s. Brush gently around the crystal and use an interdental brush in the evening so that plaque does not build up around it.

How to use
Applying and removing, step by step
- First: adults only, healthy teeth, never on a crown, veneer, composite filling or brace; if in doubt, ask your dentist
- Get a cosmetic tooth-gem resin whose manufacturer publishes its composition: its instructions take precedence over these steps
- Wash your hands, brush the tooth, rinse, then dry it well with a cotton roll: saliva prevents bonding
- Aim for the middle of the visible surface, away from the gum and the edge of the tooth
- Apply a very small amount of resin to the enamel, without touching the gum or lips
- Pick up the crystal by its cut face with a wax pencil and place it, flat back against the resin
- Cure as the resin manufacturer instructs, then avoid eating, coloured drinks and brushing the area for the time they recommend
- Do not swallow it: if it moves, take it off with your fingers. If inhaled (coughing, difficulty breathing), it is an emergency: call 112
- Removal: wear is temporary (1 to 4 weeks); never scrape with a metal object
- If resin remains or the crystal will not come off, have it removed by your dentist

Which size should I choose?
1.8 mm stays subtle, ideal on a canine or a side tooth; 2.2 mm is the classic size on an incisor; 2.6 mm can be seen from afar. For a first time, a single clear or iridescent crystal in 1.8 or 2.2 mm is plenty.
How long does it last, and how do I remove it?
With a cosmetic resin, wear is temporary: 1 to 4 weeks depending on your habits. The crystal often comes off on its own; if it moves, take it off with your fingers so you do not swallow it. Never scrape with a metal object, and have any residue removed by your dentist.
Does it damage teeth?
